WIP Wednesday

OK, OK, the day isn't over yet. I just got home from work!

I'm not thrilled. I'm hoping more blocks will improve it. I'm hoping not displaying it against gosh-awful unflattering carpet will improve it. I'm hoping for a miracle I think!

I'll keep making the blocks, they take 5 minutes each and go ahead and finish the top. Everyone needs a picnic quilt, I don't think this will ever go to my bid-n-buy at the station! Yuck-poo.

How would you quilt this?? I will do MQ but haven't the foggiest of ideas. The strips are cut at 2.5", the longest is 10.5". It will be a great place to practice for sure.

Ever have one you just didn't love. (I'm talking about quilts!)

Yes, I have one that I don't love. It's a big one, too. And I hated every minute of it, but I finished it.

As for yours, I don't think it's bad at all. I think I'd stipple-quilt it. I think all the wiggles would look nice against the straight lines of the strips.

I think maybe you are reacting to the colors. I like them, actually, and in the right setting (my assistant's house, for ex, is all olives and taupes) it would be beautiful. I agree that you need some curvy quilting lines on it. I would put it in the sale, b/c someone else will probably love it, and then you wouldn't have to see it anymore!

I think it's just fine. But then I've made quilts that I wasn't at all pleased with the look when I finished and others just loved them. So someone will love your finished quilt. For quilting I'd just do a nice big all-over meander.

I also think it's a very nice quilt, if not particularly my colors. I think an all over meander would look great on this one.

I go through a phase of hating almost every quilt I make, but usually end up at least liking, if not loving it eventually.

What is it about these blocks that you don't like? Is it the color? or the pattern? Are they boring you to make them? Could you add a secondary block that would make it more fun for you, or a different color? Or a plain block between where some lovely quilting could be placed. As a machine quilter, I love having blank spaces for my quilting to shine. I love pretty feathered wreaths, & doing fun freemotion designs.

If I were to quilt this just as you have it now, I would use a pretty varigated thread & do meandering leafy or feathery designs & swirls, because I think they're fun to do. I has to be fun!

Well, it's not "my" colors, but I think a lot of people would love this! Definitely finish it up for the bid 'n buy. I would do some meandering with simple leaves and loopy things...

There is nothing better than teal carpet.
