First Swim of the year

Summer is coming, I promise!!

We got to enjoy our "first swim" night before last, and again last night. By using the solar cover (a big piece of heavy blue bubblewrap kind of stuff!) during the 90+ days we've gotten the water temperature up to 83. I'll be glad when we don't have to keep hauling the cover on and off tho! The pool is a trapezoid, so when we're pulling the cover back on, one of us takes a huge risk of going back in the dunk! Someone gets the short end, lol. And altho this vantage point is cool, the pool isn't that big, it's only something like 30-35' x 10-12'. Fine for the two of us and some meager laps.

I've been working gradually on getting my sewing room into shape. It's hard work! We bought 2 of the wire shelf units, and I've completely filled those. DH will re-visit Lowe's to see if they've gotten in more, I cleaned them out. I think just one will do the trick. I wanted glass-fronted cabinets, but these shelves are more practical, I have ALOT of stash!

I'm back on the diet, and feeling better already. You'd think I would be able to remember how GREAT it felt to weigh 40lbs. less, but it must be like the pain of having a baby...I've forgotten...well sorta, lol. I've got a long way to go, maybe the pool will help with added exercise. Some amount is better than none, right?

So, that's all from my corner of the desert.

Have a great day!!!

Lovely pool. sure wish I had one as water aurobics are the prefered method of exercise for people with my muscle problems. And I'm WAAAAAYYYYYY to fat to make myself join a WA class at a gym! This fat butt ain't appearing in public in a swimsuit!

Good for you in getting back on your diet. I've been hit or miss on mine but for the last couple days have been trying really hard to stick to it. And yes I do feel better. I used to have a sign on the front of my refrigerator and need to put one back again. It read, "Nothing tastes as good as thin feels!"

Nice pool! We used to have a condo in Palm Desert (CA) and I especially loved swimming at night.

Sounds like you are getting settled in to your new digs. My sis in Goodyear says it's really heating up.

Oh wow, what a gorgeous pool. I wish I had a big enough back yard so we could have a pool.

Summer will be here soon and I can't wait. Sprinkler...here we come!

I'm a warm water swimmer too...no longer have our house with a pool but when we had it I wanted it to be 86 degrees or more. Your post made me remember the time DH dropped our new cordless phone in the pool while we were putting the solar blanket on it. It was brand new and an extra nice one too and he tried to dry it out with a hairdryer but it was DEAD never to be revived.

thanks for stopping by-I'm so glad to catch up with you. That pool looks wonderful. Curves is a lot of fun and there are all women my age (58) and all shapes. The woman that runs it says that a lot of much younger women go elsewhere because they want a harder workout. Whatever! it's working for me and the achiness is less each day. Thanks for the shoe tip! Glad you're settling in.

no, curves is run by the devil.

look it up you'd be suprised to find out what evil they donate their money to as a company...

-----------

Just so you know: Gary Heavin, the founder of the Waco, Texas-based chain of exercise studios called Curves, is a heavy contributor to several organizations allied with Operation Save America, the rather more muscular successor to Operation Rescue, the anti-choice group.

The organizations he funds are spreading the lie that abortions lead to an increased risk of breast cancer.

Planned Parenthood says its operations in Texas are being threatened by Heavin-funded clinics based on the old therapeutic model "you must carry your child to term."

In an article in Christianity Today, Heavin expressed pride in his involvement with anti-choice groups, to which he donates 10 percent of Curves' profits.

---so bacially he supports the idea that woman should have no choice and militant anti-abortion groups... wow what a great company!

What a lovely pool, the colour makes it look so inviting. I really am trying to finish that sock - I'm at the pick up stitches phase, and I don't want to do it. I might try the crochet hook this time...

I found you through Nancy. I would love to have a pool like this in my yard, but we in Mi only get such a short summer!
