No long an IKEA virgin

I am happy to report I have now been socialized. (Aren't you glad?) I play well with others. no, no, no...not that silly.

I went to an IKEA store for the first time today! Oh my goodness, what an experience. It's a good thing we're getting ready to list our home on the market and my pursestrings were shut...I could have done some MAJOR damage! Every item you could imagine that is considered "storage" as well as kitchen cabinets, living room & patio furniture, dishes, glassware, etc., etc.!

WE still managed to spend $100 and purchased this nifty kit to turn this pile of "junque"

...into our well organized camping gear and paper good supply area!

We even put a shelf back up above the laundry area (in California, it's mostly found IN THE GARAGE!) to take care of the multitudes of washing preparations that dh uses.

Yeah, I know, we aren't the glam types. Give me a tent, a chair and warm sleeping bag and I'm in hog heaven.

If you haven't been to IKEA and have the chance, don't even THINK there's nothing there that you'd want (there's even chocolate!). So if you're even visiting relatives and they have an IKEA, tell them lunch is on you if they take you! Lunch was only $11 for dh & I to have chicken ceasar salads AT IKEA!

Oh My Ikea..Love it! I live within 10 miles of the Ikea in Northern Illinois. Most of my house is Ikea. My husband and I go there on dates when we have no money. The food is good and it is a blast to watch people. I love to read the catalog and keep one in my studio and one on my Ikea night stand.

Welcome to the club!

OOOh...I love IKEA too!! We used to have one within a few miles but they put it in the wrong area and it just faded away one day...I have to travel quite a ways to find one now but I love shopping there!

When ours opened they had THE BEST sales..I got a camping bed and a king sized featherbed that still are being used - that was at least 15 years ago...

Good job on the shelving...One of these days I will get more shelves in my garage - but I need a shed first! Isn't a shame we don't have attics or basements out here and the garage becomes the catchall??

Sometime when you aren't on a diet...try their Swedish meatballs with lingonberry jam and buttered noodles...to die for!

Ikea has made significant contributions to my home, too! Or perhaps I should say we have made significant contributions to them. I always try to stop in if I am in the city with the nearest Ikea. Aside from furniture, towels and cups are great, and cheap!

Looks like you found some good deals there.

You asked where I am.. I'm south of Detroit, almost to the Ohio state line.

Thanks for dropping by.

My fabric shrine.....is enclosed in IKEA. That's how much I like IKEA. Pictures are on my blog. IKEA is one of my favorite places to spend a day.

I too am an IKEA Virgin - but not for long - It is on my list to visit soon to help organize my sewing room and finish off a bathroom DH and I have been re-working for almost 2 years now - it's time to check it out - just need a block of time to go in an see what it is really all about. PP

Looks like you and IKEA have a good thing going. Love the organization. The one time I was there, I bought a $3 footstool so my short students could reach the drinking fountain. =)

Wow! We have no IKEA on the Central Coast. All those years I lived in SoCal I drove past one every day, but never went in. Now I wish I had one nearby.

So you are getting ready to sell your house, eh? Well, I just (finally) sold mine and moved in, two weeks before Christmas. So I can relate to what you're going through!

I've never been, but I love containers and storage, so I am afraid to go. I already have lots of empty containers I'm trying to find a use for. Hopefully there aren't Ikea stores around here.

I haven't been to an IKEA store but I love their website. I can't get great lunches there, though. When I visit my daughter in Denver we'll have to go shop and lunch. Isn't it a great feeling to get things organized like that. Spoken like an organization freak.

I just made my first major IKEA purchase. We got a new kitchen table and chairs there.

Congratulaions on your first IKEA experience! We always have the traditional after-shopping-hotdog...

Hi, I love it too but it's in the major city and not conducive to carting my children! Blows my mind. Sorry I haven't called for coffee for a few weeks, Summer here and life is busy. Love the quilt photo with your daughter, she obviously loved it! Tracey

I want to go to an IKEA store so bad but the closest one to me is Renton WA and I live in Oregon. Whaaa!

Sorry about the house you wanted being pulled off the market. People do the the most frustrating things sometimes. I know you'll find something else to your liking.
