Dryer or Line Dry?

So which do you prefer? Hands down, I LOVE a stiffly line-dried towel. Scratches up the skin, gets rid of the old stuff, ya know?! We're enjoying a lovely 70* day, after a horrible, memorable weekend full of storms. Yes, I'm gloating with this weather. I THOUGHT I would miss the snow, but I'm find it really hard now.

I don't miss snow one bit and neither will you :)I do miss fall, though.
I like "dryer" towels, but there is nothing like the fresh smell of sheets dried on the line. Jen

I agree, the smell is the best! I admit I have not dried anything outside in years. Used to hang out cloth diapers, anyone remember those? I did hang out some quilts on the line in the fall - http://patchworkreflections.blogspot.com/2005/11/just-hangin-out.html

Clothesline, 1000 times over. Today as I loaded yet another load into the dryer I got all sad thinking it's going to be 2 1/2 months at least, until I can pull sheets off the line and breathe that wonderful smell. Yankee Candle makes a "Clean Linen" scent - chokes me right up to smell it.

My stupid husband, who prefers jello to cheesecake and Miracle Whip to real mayo also prefers the dryer. I blame his mother. ;o)

oh, 70... I am so jealous. I was happy it was the high 40's in Indiana today! :-)

I am strictly a dryer gal when it comes to towels and sheets. I don't want pollen on something I am sleeping with.

Sheets, yes. Towels, no way.

I dry almost everything on the line (except undies and usually not towels. I don't like the "uber scratchiness".

Moved to NoCal 8 years ago, and don't miss living in the snow. Heck, if I want to see it, it's just a 3 hour drive on I-80! And I don't have to shovel it.

Now someone please tell dorothy that she can hang clothes outside in the winter. YES, they freeze. But they are dry, they go all soft. Did it for ages. Rain is the only reason not to hang clothes outside. Then you hang them up inside.

I'm a weirdo who likes scratchy sheets. Don't like high thread-count sateen sheets. Soft sheets feel like old too-long-slept-in rags to me. I love the feel of crisp, cool, laundry-done sheets, but live with the convenience of wash & dry. Towels? Soft bath-sheets, please.

(I heard someone--a textile historian?--say scratchy homespun was a natural exfoliant in "the olden days." I never thought of it, but it sounds logical. No apricot scrub back then!)
