"Are We There Yet?"

Tonya's Winter Free Piecing class is coming right along. More of us are popping in daily as we finish tucking away Christmas things.

I embroidered, layered, quilted and bound the Christmas sign yesterday. That's quite an accomplishment for me. I'm kinda slow. (Oh hush you, you in the back row snickering!)

Oh Hey! WAIT! I also cooked 2 meals yesterday. How unusual is that? My Dh usually does most of the cooking, yeah, I know, I'm totally spoiled. I do try to do some cooking on the weekends these days. During the week, I'm gone to work 6:20am - 6:00pm, he works 4:00am - 8:30am (and sometimes until noon). He simply just has more time. I wish.

Here's my dilema. I need one more sign representing California. These signs represent states that Dh and I have lived in together..well, sort of. I need a city name in the state of California that represents Christmas. "Angels Camp" does not work for us. I may be forced to make one up if I don't get some help! OK, I'm BEGGING. What can you think of...or make up for that matter?

I don't know one offhand, but there must be something like "Pine Tree" or something along those lines.
I'll see if I can think of any.

Holly(wood)? Needles? Snow Valley (isn't that a ski resort)? Big Pine? (Lone Pine, Pine Grove...)

Pinecrest, CA.
Paradise, CA
I looked through the whole list of California Post Offices.

No help here, but love your signs. You're doing a great job with those letters!

I kind of like Needles, Ca. Best I could come up with too from this list: http://www.beachcalifornia.com/city_county.html

I do love the two signs you have already though -- such fun! And what lovely views of the mountains!

Your signs are wonderful. How about Mistletoe, CA? If there isn't one, then there should be!

I found a few...but I am off to do taxi service and had to log of the site I found:Snowshoe Springs, Claussenius (santa crossed with a Roman Emperor? tickled my funny bone), Snow Bend, Deer Crossing, Antlers, Hollydale and Noel Heights. I only made it thru about 10 counties...let me know if you want me to keep going!

Oh I LOVE!!! Deer Crossing and Antlers (and Claussenius made me giggle)

Did you know Santa's wife is named Clara? There is Santa Clara, CA. Or there is a town named Cool, CA

The only thing I could come up with was Donner Lake. No Blitzen, sorry.

So many good ideas! Claussenius gets my vote tho, for the "humor+"

I finished up the rest of the CA counties..I only came up with 3 more: Secret Town, Top of the World, and East Nicolaus. I had fun! Hope you found one you can use...

my deleted comment was just a repeat.

Anyway, I love the town names....my alll time fave so far is Spring Garden in CA, but that doesn't fit the theme....

Yeah, you sure are slow! But, your work is wonderful and so crisp, might be a lesson in there for anyone who rushes through. (NOT ME! LOL).

I like Donner Lake...........but surely there is a town with a Christmas name that has Christmas shops to sell to the tourists??

Well, I pulled out the trusty Atlas, but here's all I could come up with:
Caribou
Bell
Herald
Hollywood
Hope Ranch
Needles
Nicolaus
Love your signs. --Susan

HI and thank you for your post on my blog. I love your site and the pictures are just wonderful. My goal, before I die, is to see Arizona and visit the Grand Canyon. Hubby says the year we retire we take a 4 week vacation and travel the states!!! That is only 3 or 4 years away.

Your signs are awesome. How are you ever going to choose one to represent California? There have been so many great suggestions. Looking forward to seeing what you decide. Neat idea.

What great signs and so nice to find your blog. Now I'm going to have to put on my thinking cap :-)!

Well, there's Angel Island too but I don't know that it's much better than Angel's Camp. I'll give it some thought!

How about Hollydale? It's in Sonoma County and unincorporated, but it's on the map.
