My favorite Christmas ornament and a new postcard

Do you have a favorite Christmas ornament?

When the kids were small, we set out to find the perfect tree topper. We wanted an angel, but the only ones we found had blinky lights, or were just plain unsuitable. What we did find was a beautiful ballerina. Out comes the craft felt and some pearl beads and hot glue, and voila! An angel is born. (Can angels be born?) Our angel got her wings and lights upon our treetop each year thanks to twisty ties.

I had to "hang" her so I could get a picture, I'm w-a-y short!

When I was a little, my brother made a Santa that I just fell in love with. He used brown lunch bags stuffed with cotton. It's long gone now of course, but someday I'll get out a brown sack and try to replicate it.

There was ONE clear green bulb on our tree. As a child, I would lay just under the branches and gaze at that bulb. It was darn 'near a miracle, or so I thought. So clear and bright.

When looking out of our country house's window, 'bout the age of 4..I remember I could see a radio tower that had a blinking beacon. At Christmas, I was just SURE that was Santa and Rudolf. Ah, sweet innocence.

This is a postcard I did today to send to my in-laws. Hope they like it. Yeah, I know, it won't get there on time. I don't do perfection well.

Dh and I are planning to go to the Desert Museum and wander around on Christmas Day. Spend the day with each other, doing what we like to do best-just hang out together.

Please accept my dearest "Merry Christmas" wish, Happy New Year too!!!

Your angel and postcard are just perfect! I know your inlaws will be much pleased with the latter.

Favorite Christmas ornament. Hmmm. Can't say that I have one. I was really delighted and amazed at how festive "little kid art" using construction paper and glitter makes the joint look, though.

That's a nice tree topper and a beautiful post card! Hey, wouldn't a tree look great with fabric post cards as ornaments? Now you got me thinking.

Have a Wonderful Christmas!!

Your "angel" is wonderful. I guess the angel I made would not be my favorite but I cannot use anything but her on the top of the tree as much as I keep saying she's very tattered after almost 40 years of use. She leans a lot and her lace is not as perky but that's part of her charm. I relate to the leaning and less perky these days. Have a wonderful Holiday. We miss you much!!! Bev - Oh p.s. I just read in an RV mag. about a huge "craft/arts" area just 45 miles south of you but I can't remember the name. Sounds like a walk about type place to check out.

My favorite ornament is an angel too. I LOVE your post card. I just got my first one. Not something I see myself making...too much machine friendly work.

Love that postcard! (um, if I waited for perfection I would get NOTHING done) For me one of my favorite ornaments was a pink gingham choo choo train from when I was a baby. It's packed away at my Mom's house now -- I wonder if she would send it to me?

Hope your holidays were happy!!!

I love the angel - how creative of you! The postcard is beautiful, and creativity cannot be held to a timeline. =)

I get it now - you are also in Arizona! We are parked near Congress, at the moment, and will be moving on to Phx for a few days (Apache Junction, anyway), then to Yuma, and who knows where after that!

Your precious ballerina angel is wonderful, as are your sweet childhood Christmas memories. Love that poinsettia postcard, well done. Happy New Year!

What a pretty angel! I've always thought ballerinas resembled angels, anyway, so you just justified my thinking all these years! The postcard is lovely, too. I've never made any of those, but yours inspires me...hmm..if I start now, could I make enough for all my friends and family by Christmas? Your socks make me wish I could knit. Then again, that would just be something else I didn't have time for! haha..anyway, Happy New Year!

Your postcard is exquisite. What a joy it would be to receive that instead of a plain old Christmas card! And the angel is cute as can be. What beautiful workmanship.
Thanks for a peek back into your childhood Christmases. When I decorate the Christmas tree, I think of my mom standing WAAAY back in the kitchen doorway, pointing and saying "Put the red ornament there" and such because the poor thing is allergic to evergreens! It must have been torture to have one in the house!
